Woodland and hedgerow creation, England and Wales

Protect Earth plants and restores across England and Wales. An example of their work is this abandoned farmhouse and smallholding is being restored to benefit wildlife, food production, and the local economy. A woodland block is being planted at one end, a shelterbelt to block the wind is being planted along the road, and hedging filling the remaining borders. The hedgerow is 125 metres in total, with 600 hedging plants, with the following native species Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Guelder Rose, Hazel, and Alder Buckthorn.

Plastic recovery & recycling

Around 13 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. Floating plastic debris are currently the most common items of marine litter. Your funds will help clear the world of plastic waste. The projects make plastic collection and recycling profitable for some of the most marginalised and impoverished people in the world, creating jobs and stopping plastic from entering our rivers and oceans.

Solar energy sub-Saharan Africa

Sunshine is in abundance in Africa but when the sun goes down the working day ends for millions of people. For millions of others the only option is to ignite kerosene lamps and paraffin candles, which emit toxic fumes into their lungs and into the earth’s atmosphere. SolarAid is working to deliver clean, safe, and affordable solar lights to rural communities across sub-Saharan Africa, reaching the places no one else goes to.

Regreening - Rainwater Harvesting – Water Bunds (Earth Smiles)

Nature-based solutions are now recognised as a key element of tackling climate change. Justdiggit, restores desertified, dry land using proven techniques including rainwater harvesting (digging bunds, or ‘earth smiles’).
