Turtle hatchling protection
Six out of seven species of sea turtles are threatened or endangered. This project protects this "keystone species". This project provides grant funding to the organisations working on small budgets. The funds go towards paying local residents to patrol important turtle nesting beaches, protecting turtles that come up to nest and ensuring that the eggs are protected, and guiding the hatchlings to the sea. SEE Turtles grants have already resulted in 10 million hatchlings being saved! They’re aiming to save 1 billion.

Plastic recovery & recycling
Around 13 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. Floating plastic debris are currently the most common items of marine litter. Your funds will help clear the world of plastic waste. The projects make plastic collection and recycling profitable for some of the most marginalised and impoverished people in the world, creating jobs and stopping plastic from entering our rivers and oceans.

Aperam BioEnergia Biochar - Brazil
Aperam BioEnergia is a Brazilian player of the forest and renewable energy sector, that runs a ~420.000 ton/year charcoal operation with emissions control in the northeast region of Minas Gerais - Brazil, and holds ~156,000 ha of planted (FSC Certified) and native forest with important biodiversity and economical impact on local communities. Previously, part of the charcoal production that wasn’t being used in Aperam’s industrial process was sold to the market for energy applications, mostly to cement production industries. Now, with the Biochar project, the material is brought back to Aperam BioEnergia forests and applied to the soil, where it not only serves as a durable carbon removal from the atmosphere but also acts as an important natural component for soil characteristics, reconditioning and improvement. This change of baseline is only possible due to the carbon removal revenue.
